Take Them Outright

2017 Champions League: Group Stage – Matchday 2 Sept 2017

Group H:    APOEL home to Tottenham

Tottenham looks to build on their opening match. Spurs will be without Alli and Vertonhgen who are on suspension. Its crucial they pick up 3 points as they have 2 games left against Real Madrid and 1 left versus Dortmund. Don’t be surprised if you see Llorente and Son start up top. They won’t be at full strength but I still like them to come away with a win.

Pick: Tottenham ML -345

Group G:    Monaco home to Porto

Both teams dropped points in their opening round matches. Monaco is unbeaten at home this year in all competitions and has been  playing their best ball as of late . The team is really coming together after selling off half their players during the transfer window. Porto’s defense has been a little suspect as of late while Falcao seems to find the back of the net whenever he wants.

Pick: Monaco -½ goal

Group A:    CSKA Moscow home to Man U

Jose and company make the long trip out to Russia for their second match of the Champions League campaign . The Red Devils find themselves near the top of Premier League and look to continue their winning ways.  CSKA is coming off a shocking win versus Benfica in their opening group fixture and is also playing well domestically. Talent wise Moscow cant compete. The real question is what lineup Man U goes with and how interested they are in coming away with a win. Historically coming away with a point for them has been enough in Russia. That being said Jose needs to keep the team motivated and getting 3 points will be paramount.

Pick: Man U ML -150

Group B:    PSG home to Bayern

Bayern just doesn’t look like the world beaters they have been in recent years. Only getting draw this weekend against Wolfsburg is just the latest of their disappointments. Will James actually get off the bench, Will he make a difference? Neymar has energized PSG and they continue to steamroll Ligue 1. This is a true test for them at home against a European power. The biggest concern for PSG is who will take the penalties. Maybe they drop at point in Germany but not in Paris.

Pick: PSG  -½ goal
